Privacy notice
Clipper U is a clipping service for streamers. This notice says what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your answer to an invite. If you open an invite link, we store that the link was opened, your Yes or No, the time, and, if you ask for your clips, the email you give us. Nothing else is collected on that page.
- Cookies, only the ones the site needs to work, never for advertising or analytics (Google's advertising cookies are described below):
cm_inv(your invite, 60 days),cm_req(your request, 30 days),cm_cli(email sign-in, 30 days),cm_oa(protects the channel sign-in step, 10 minutes) andcm_acc(site owners only). Because they are all strictly necessary, we do not show a cookie banner. One more, set only on our home and sign-up pages:cu_v(90 days) remembers which of our page wordings you were shown, so we can count sign-ups per wording. It holds a single letter, is not linked to you anywhere else and is not used for advertising. If you arrive through a referral link, your browser also keeps the referral code (cu_ref, in local storage, until you clear it) so the person who shared it can be credited. - Visit statistics on our own pages. Our pages send our own server small counts: which page was viewed, how long it was in front of you
and in use (engaged time), how far you scrolled (25, 50, 75, 100%), which of our buttons you pressed, the kind of device (phone or desktop), your
country (from our host's network, not your exact location), which page wording you saw, and where the visit came from (the ad or campaign
name in the link, the website that linked to us, and whether the link came from a Google ad: yes or no, never the click ID itself). We set no
cookie for this and give you no visitor ID; to remember where this visit started, your browser keeps the source in session storage
(
cu_src), which it deletes when you close the tab (not for visitors from the EU, the UK, the EEA or Switzerland). The counts are stored by Cloudflare (Workers Analytics Engine) as totals we read in our own owner page, and are not shared with anyone. Visits from our own team are not counted. - Google Ads measurement. Only when you reach us by clicking one of our Google ads (your browser then remembers that for 90 days in local
storage,
cu_gad, so a later sign-up still counts), our pages load Google's tag (googletagmanager.com) so Google can tell us which ads led to a sign-up, a verified channel or a first purchase (with its amount). Google sets its own advertising cookies for this (for example_gcl_aw, up to 90 days) and receives your browser's usual details from it. We send Google only the event name, its value and a random reference number, never your name, email or channel. We have personalised advertising and remarketing turned off. The tag never loads if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, if you visit from the EU, the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, or on our own team's devices. Under some US state laws this kind of ad measurement can count as "sharing"; to opt out, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or email us. Google's own use is covered by Google's advertising policies. - Access requests from our home page: the name, email, channel link, platform, viewer range, referral and note you type in, plus the time. Kept up to 12 months, then deleted automatically. Spam protection briefly counts requests per network address (kept 2 hours). We send one automatic email confirming we got your request, through our email provider; we keep only whether it was sent.
- Channel verification and sign-in. If you verify your channel by signing in with Twitch, Kick or YouTube (Google), we store only the verified channel name and its ID, with the time, alongside your request or invite. We never see your password, we get no posting access, we do not keep the sign-in, and we read nothing else from your account except one thing on Twitch: during that sign-in we also read the list of your recent past broadcasts and the stream markers on them (titles, times, links and preview images), so your moments show up on your dashboard. The sign-in is still not kept: new markers come in the next time you sign in with Twitch. For the channels you link, we also check public live data (whether you are live and how many people are watching) every few minutes, to spot unusually big streams for the spike bonus and to count stream days for the Roster track. This is public information; we keep about a month of it per channel. If you add a link to one of your posts on your dashboard, we keep the link and the results of our checks (public or not, tagged or not, and when). If you verify with a code in your bio or stream title instead, we store the code and the date we checked it. So the same channel cannot sign up twice, we keep the verified channel's ID (not your name or email) even after your request is deleted. If you sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, we store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the code for 10 minutes; the email is sent by our email provider. Small cookies link the sign-in to your request or invite (up to 30 days for a request or sign-in, 60 for an invite) and protect the sign-in step (10 minutes). Clipper U's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Emails we send you. After you send your channel or claim your clips we may send a few follow-up emails (offers, new clips made from your streams). Every one has a link to stop them, and we stop at once. Links in our emails go through clipperu.com so we can count which emails get clicks; our email provider can also tell us whether an email was opened or a link clicked. We use this only to decide which emails are worth sending.
- Referrals. If you came through someone's referral link, we keep the code with your request and count the sign-up. If you later pay, the person who shared it gets Clipper U credits; we tell them a paid sign-up came through their link, not your details.
- What you send us: emails and messages, and, if you become a client, your name, contact details, channel names and billing details.
- Public stream content and public profile information (channel name, public stats, public clips) that we use to find moments and prepare clips.
- Payments are handled by Stripe; we do not see or store full card numbers. When a payment clears, Stripe tells our site which account to add the credits to (an account number we put on the checkout link), what was bought and the amount; we keep that with your credit history.
- Your account and drafts. Your account holds your credits and credit history, your plan, your verified channel, and the moments you send us (stream links, timestamps and what you want in the clip), plus, for plans, the auto-clipper's watch-hours and the moments it found. It is keyed to a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email, not the email itself. We keep it while you have credits or a plan, and delete it on request when you have none left.
- The microphone button. If you press it to say what you want instead of typing, your browser's own speech service (for example Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge, Apple in Safari) turns your speech into text. We receive only the text, never the audio.
Why we use it
- To show you your pitch and the site, to make and deliver clips, to bill for paid work, to answer you, and to keep the service secure.
- We do not sell or rent personal information. We use Google Ads only to measure which of our ads work (no personalised advertising), as described above.
Who processes it
We use service providers: Cloudflare (site and storage, United States), Resend (email), Stripe (payments), Twitch, Kick and Google (only if you choose to verify your channel with them), Google (ad measurement, only for visitors from our Google ads), and AI tools to help find and edit moments. They act on our instructions. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Invite records: up to 12 months, or until you ask us to delete them. Client records: for the length of the service plus what tax and accounting law requires. Source footage: deleted after clips are delivered unless you ask us to keep it. Finished clips: kept for your account until you ask us to delete them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK) you may have further rights, including to object or to complain to a regulator; we honour them. [OPEN: legal review of state and international rules]
Children
This service is for streamers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and we will delete it if we learn we have.
Changes
If this notice changes in a meaningful way we will update the date above and tell clients directly.
